Offering Biometric and KBA Screening

I am based in New Jersey which allows both Biometric Screening as well as the typical Knowledge-Based Assessment Screening for a smoother and more secure online notarization experience! Traditionally, Remote Online Notarization (RON) requires signers to complete Knowledge-Based Assessment (KBA) questions. These are similar to the credit verification questions you encounter when applying for a credit card or accessing banking services. While necessary, these KBA questions can pose significant challenges—especially for individuals with limited or extensive credit history, or seniors who may find it difficult to recall details from many years ago.

How is Identity Verified During a Remote Online Notarization session?

1. ID Authenticity -Using your smartphone, you will take a clear photo or your approved form of ID and upload it to verify its authenticity. If the system is not able to clearly read your identification, you will not be able to proceed to the session. You will also need your ID physically with you to present to the Notary on camera during the session.

2. Verify your identity as the true owner of the ID presented, in one of two ways:

a) Knowledge-based Authentication (KBA) – A series of 5 multiple-choice questions drawn from your public record history. (For example: "With which of these addresses are you associated?" and “What color was the Ford you owned in 2010?”) If you do not have a United States Social Security Number and at least 5 years of credit history, this may not work for you.

Here comes your Florida Online Notary to the rescue! We can also verify your identity using…

b) Biometrics – You take a photo of your ID and upload it, then take a selfie and upload it.

During a session with a virtual Notary you will need to make sure that you are able to meet the following criteria:
2147650907.jpg
1 - The party that requires you to have the document Notarized will accept a Virtual Notarization
  • Only the receiving party may answer this question for you
2 - You will have a State Issued Drivers License and a valid Social Security Number
  • During your session, you will need a credit history to pass a Knowledge-Based Assessment Questionaire that helps the Notary in verifying your identity.
3 - If you do not have a State Issue ID from the United States you still may be able to have your document Notarized using a credible witness.
4 - You will need the ability to email a PDF of your document to your selected Notary
5 -  You will need access to a computer equipped with a webcam, microphone, and speakers
6 -  You will strong WiFi connection
7 -  You must be coherent, comprehending, and willing to sign your document
